New Brighton Marching Lion Pride
2009 - 2010 Handbook

Introduction:

Congratulations! You are now a member of the New Brighton Instrumental Music Program! This band has performed for thousands of people at various events and festivals throughout the country.

Being a member of the band program means that you will have responsibilities and expectations to uphold that are above and beyond anything that you have done before. Our members are active inside and outside of band. Many are athletes, scholars, leaders in other school clubs, and socialites. The common ties among these students are excellence and commitment. Band members are expected to commit and excel not only in band, but in all aspects of life.

As with any activity, you only get out of it what you put into it. We want the best for you, which is why we will demand the best from you. As a part of this organization, you will have the opportunity to have fun with your friends as well as making this a fun and positive performing experience.

Philosophy:

Our goal is for you to develop a lifelong appreciation of the performing arts. We want every member to become the most proficient performer that he or she is capable of being. We hope to instill a sense of pride, self-discipline, motivation and a drive of excellence not only in music, but also in our everyday lives. We want our students to be the best they can be in sharing their talents towards a common goal.

Purpose:

The purpose of the New Brighton Band Program shall be to:
1. Develop and maintain a high standard of excellence as musicians, performers and student leaders.
2. Represent the New Brighton School District and our Instrumental Music Program at football games, festivals, concerts, and other community functions in a positive way.
3. Build strong relationships and lasting memories within this organization through hard work, dedication, positive attitudes, and the enjoyment of music.
